Monochrome Blue Glaze Porcelain Gaiwan Set

This elegantmonochrome blue-glazed porcelain tea set includes one Gaiwan, one Gong Dao Bei (fairness pitcher), and six tasting cups.

The beautiful blue colour is traditionally achieved usingcobalt oxide, which is incorporated into the glaze and fired at high temperature. The result is a smooth, uninterrupted blue surface where the colour, glaze texture, depth, and lustre become the main decorative features.

In Chinese ceramics, monochrome blue-glazed porcelain is an important traditional category, particularly associated withJingdezhen and the imperial ceramics of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Set includes:

  • Gaiwan: 150 ml
  • Gong Dao Bei (Fairness Pitcher): 200 ml
  • Tea Cups: 30 ml each × 6

The150 ml Gaiwan is an ideal size for personal tea sessions or for sharing tea with family and friends. Its compact capacity offers excellent control over the brewing process while allowing the tea leaves to fully open. It is particularly well suited toGongfu-style brewing and works beautifully with all types of tea, especially teas with larger leaves.

Each30 ml tasting cup has a slightly low and wide shape, designed to make tea comfortable to drink while allowing the aromas and flavours to develop beautifully. These are the cups I use in my shop for all my tea-tasting sessions, and over time I have found this shape to be one of the most versatile and enjoyable for tasting a wide range of teas.

A refined combination of traditional Chinese ceramic aesthetics and practical tea-brewing design, this set is equally suited to everyday tea drinking, tea tasting, and sharing tea with guests.
