Tie Guan Yin Oolong is one of our best-selling teas, yet we’ve never held a dedicated tasting session—until now. We are excited to introduce a selection of classic Tie Guan Yin teas crafted by Wang Hui Rong, a recognised inheritor of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Anxi Oolong Tea-Making Techniques. Born into a family with deep roots in traditional Tie Guan Yin craftsmanship in Anxi, Wang Hui Rong grew up immersed in the world of tea—watching the elders around him make and drink tea, often drifting to sleep with its fragrance in the air. As he came of age, he inherited the family legacy and has since devoted decades to perfecting the art of Anxi Tie Guan Yin. That childhood memory of tea’s aroma has stayed with him and continues to shape his lifelong dedication to the craft.

These rare teas are not part of our regular collection and were specially sourced for this event by Juyan’s esteemed tea expert friend from China,Mr. Shu Song.

1.    Golden Broth Tie Guan Yin (黄金汤)
Sourced from Xiping Town, Anxi, Fujian, this Tie Guan Yin is made from the original Red Heart, Crooked Tail cultivar. It features the classic appearance of green leaves with red edges. The tea offers traditional orchid and floral-fruity aromas, with a signature bright golden liquor that gives it the name “Golden Broth.”

2.    Light Aroma Tie Guan Yin – Orchid Fragrance (清香铁观音 兰香)
Known as Deyun Orchid Fragrance Tie Guan Yin, this tea is shaped like a dragonfly’s head and exudes an elegant, rich orchid aroma. The infusion is a bright golden-yellow, and the flavor is clean and refreshing, characteristic of the light-aroma style.

3.    Rich Aroma Tie Guan Yin (浓香型铁观音)
Roasted using traditional methods, this Tie Guan Yin delivers a deep, roasted nuttiness with warm, toasty undertones and a lingering finish. Ideal for those who enjoy a fuller-bodied, mature flavor profile with complexity and depth.

4.     Hidden Essence Old Bush Minnan Oolong (隐韵闽南乌龙)
Adding an additional tea from my newest collection to the tasting menu.  This Tie Guan Yin are made from old tea bushes (or Lao Cong, 老枞) growing in the traditional terroir of Anxi County, Fujian. These older tea plants have been left without any attention for many decades in the deep mountain ranges, and has developed deeper root systems that draw more complex minerals from the soil, resulting in a richer, more layered flavour.
