For the first time, we would love to introduce you some Flower Scented Teas. The scenting (also known as xun zhi) process for flower scented tea involves blending fresh flowers with tea leaves, allowing the tea to slowly absorb the floral fragrance while resting in a still state - this interplay of "release and absorption" allows the tea and floral aromas to merge harmoniously. Afterward, the flowers are removed, and the tea leaves are dried to produce scented tea. These rare teas are not part of our regular collection and were specially sourced for this event by Juyan’s esteemed tea expert friend from China,Mr. Shu Song.We will taste four teas:
Gardenia Moonlight White
Made with Yunnan Moonlight White tea and Sichuan gardenia flowers using the cold scenting technique. The freshness and sweetness of white tea blend harmoniously with the milky fragrance of gardenia, resulting in a naturally light and sweet aroma.
Orchid Lady – Spring Orchid Green Tea
Crafted from tender single buds of Sichuan small-leaf green tea, prepared with a traditional pan-drying method. Fresh spring orchids are carefully selected and scented with the tea using traditional methods. Additionally, a light “yellowing” step, inspired by yellow tea processing, is incorporated to induce a mild secondary fermentation. This results in a tea that retains the freshness of green tea, enriched with the floral aroma of orchids and a smoother, gentler mouthfeel thanks to the soft fermentation.
Dark Bloom – Pomelo Blossom Qilan Oolong
A base of traditional southern Fujian-style processed Bai Ya Qi Lan oolong is paired with mellow pomelo blossoms from Pinghe County. Using an innovative cold scenting technique, the bright freshness of oolong tea is enhanced by the rich floral aroma of pomelo blossoms, producing a clean, vibrant, and natural flavour.
Rose Rouge – Rose Souchong Black Tea
Crafted from the Jin Mudan (Golden Peony) cultivar in Fujian, this black tea is dark, tightly rolled, and weighty, with a strong honey aroma and natural floral and orchid notes. Its inherent rose-like fragrance pairs perfectly with Yunnan’s double-petaled roses. The elegant sweet floral notes and silky, lingering tea flavor offer a delightful sensory experience.
