A Guided Exploration of Two Iconic Oolong Styles
Join us for a special tasting session that explore the best of oolong tea, focusing on two legendary Chinese styles: These two teas represent the northern and southern expressions of oolong, each with their own unique processing techniques, terroir, and flavour profiles.
Lao Cong Tie Guan Yin:
We will taste two rare Tie Guan Yin are crafted from old tea bushes (Lao Cong, 老枞) growing in the traditional terroir ofAnxi County, Fujian. These older tea plants have been left without any attention for many decades in the deep mountain ranges, and has developed deeper root systems that draw more complex minerals from the soil, resulting in aricher, more layered tea:
Single-Tree Lao Cong Tie Guan Yin:Harvested from a single, mature tea bush
Wu Yi Rock Tea:
Two Wu Yi Rock Teas from the Ghost Cave, Ghost Cave (Gui Dong in Chinese) is not an actual cave but rather a valley with an excellent ecological environment. The valley is narrow and long from low to high along the northwest direction, hidden between the Flame Peak of Pouring Water Pit and Eagle Mouth Rock of Hui Yuan Keng (倒水坑火焰峰和慧苑坑鹰嘴岩). It is said that when it rains, the entire valley is shrouded in mist, which is why it is named "Ghost Cave." This area has many old tea trees and a very rich variety of species:
