Master Yu Yinfeng, one of our Phoenix Dan Cong tea suppliers, will soon be visiting us in London.  We would like to take this opportunity to host a Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong Tea tasting session, where he will present the authentic Chaozhou Gong Fu Cha, along with a selection of rare Dan Cong Teas that he will personally bring with him.

Chaozhou Gong Fu Tea (潮州工夫茶), is a traditional Chinese tea preparation method that originated in the Chaozhou region of Guangdong Province, China. It is a highly refined and ceremonial way of brewing tea, emphasising precision, skill, and appreciation for the tea's flavour, aroma, and texture. The term "Gong Fu" (工夫) refers to the time, effort, and skill required to master this art.  Chaozhou Gong Fu Tea is deeply rooted in the culture of the Chaozhou people and reflects their values of hospitality, patience, and attention to detail. It is often practiced in homes, tea houses, and during special occasions, and it has gained popularity among tea enthusiasts worldwide.

Phoenix Dan Cong is one of the Oolong Tea from Chaozhou, Guangdong Province.  The tea is famous for its overwhelming fruity flavour and captivating floral notes. Each variety of Phoenix Dan Cong oolongs is named based on the unique flavour produced by its original tea tree, resulting in a wide array of flavours, as numerous as the tea trees on the mountain. Phoenix Dancong is best brewed using theGong Fu Cha (工夫茶) method to fully appreciate its complexity and multiple infusions.

Master Yu Yingfeng owns the former site of the state-owned tea factory, which was established in 1950s, encompassing 300 acres of ancient tea gardens in Wudong Mountain, situated at an average altitude of 1000 meters. Wudong Mountain is a key region for Dan Cong Oolong teas. The production process of Phoenix Dan Cong tea is complex, with each step intricately linked, and there is no room for error in any of the procedures. Master Yu follows the traditional process method, use exclusively from 100% pure spring tea, harvested once a year. Each tea is finally charcoal roasted three rounds enhancing the taste and aroma and tea’s storage capability.

We usually provide details of the teas featured in our tasting sessions, but this time, we’re keeping it a surprise.

There are only 8 spaces, so please book early.
