Lao Duan Ni (Old Duan Ni) clay is produced in Huanglong Mountain, Yixing, Jiangsu. It is a co-mined clay composed of Ben Shan Lu Ni (local green clay) and Zi Ni (purple clay). Both Ben Shan Lu Ni and Zi Ni are raw ores of Yixing clay. The term "co-mined" signifies that they naturally form together and share consistent properties. Lao Duan Ni is mature clay that has been aged through long-term storage in kilns.
Ideal for brewing green tea, white tea, young and mid-aged Puer teas, and light oolongs, this teapot ensures a superior tea-drinking experience. The unique properties of Lao Duan Ni clay contribute to the optimal infusion of these teas, preserving their delicate flavours and aromas. This teapot is a perfect blend of natural inspiration and traditional craftsmanship, suitable for both daily use and special occasions.

Preparation Before Use
Yixing Teapots should be prepared or "opened" before their first use. This process is essential to remove any impurities, dust, sand or residual odros that may be present in the clay from the firing process. Additionally, it helps to further open the pores of the clay, whcih is one of the unique characteristics of Yixing teapots that allows them to absorb and enhance the flavours of the tea brewed in them over time. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of the process:
1. Rinsing the teapot under warm water, then wipe gently inside and outside of the pot with a new non-scratch sponge scourer to remove sediment trapped in the unglazed clay.
2. Boiling Water Rinse: Pour boiling water over the entire surface of the Yixing teapot starting from the knob. After wettign the exterior, pour boiling water inside the pot. Wait for 10 minutes allow the clay absorb the heat and further open its pores.
3. Empty the pot and Rinsing with cold water to help to cool down the pot and remove any remaning rsidues.
4. Repeat Hot and Cold Water Rinsing.
After completing these steps, your Yixing teapot should be well-prepared for use.
