The "Yun Jian Ru Yi" is one of the newest work by Zhou Shu Yuan by using Zi Yu Jin Shi clay, which means purple jade golden sand. The clay material is made fromcarefully selected raw ore purple sand particles.  it is fired in a kiln at around 800 degrees Celsius to remove impurities and then re-refined with the raw ore clay. This clay material is relatively coarse and challenging to work with. The coarse sand particles must be individually trimmed and smoothed. When creating the mouth of the teapot, the rough texture of the clay causes the rim to be uneven and jagged, resembling a sawtooth pattern. This requires meticulous hand-finishing to achieve a smooth edge. The clay appears quite rough when new, but it develops a shine quickly after a few uses. With continued use, the teapot acquires a smooth, jade-like quality.

The design of teapot was originally created by created by Gu Jingzhou (18 October 1915 - 3 June 1996), who was and still is one of the most respected ceramic artist in China. He created many styles of yixing teapots.  He was a founder and Deputy Director of Research and Technology at the Number One Yixing Factory.

"Yun Jian Ru Yi" was inspired by a three-legged round cauldron with flattened, rounded and a clean, graceful design.  Combining traditional elements of the cloud shoulder pattern ("Yun Jian") and the "Ru Ri" motif, giving it a robust and refined presence. The lid is decorated with Hui Wen (very similar pattern as Greek key patterns), symbolising enduring prosperity. The knob is shaped like a precious pearl, with three sides embellished with cloud-shaped Ru Yi motifs, with the cloud ends pointing upwards like a flower bud about to bloom.

The size of this teapot is 400ml, quite large size for standard gong fu tea brewing style, but it would be perfect for longer brewing with smaller amount of teas, allowing to be used just like a normally teapot but because of the high quality of clay, it will make the tea taste more delicious with smoother and thicker mouthfeel.  The pot can be used for almost all teas.

Only one in stock, so the pot photographed is the pot you will receive.

Preparation Before Use
Yixing Teapots should be prepared before using the first time. This is called "opening the pot". It removes the dust/sand from firing the teapot.

We recommend rinsing the teapot under warm water two or three times, then wipe gently inside and outside of the pot with a new non-scratch sponge scourer to remove sediment trapped in the unglazed clay.

Then, filling the teapot with boiling water, wait for 10 minutes, empty the pot; repeat one more time, the new Yixing teapot is ready for use.

Daily cleaning and seasoning

Empty the leaves after each use, rinse with boiling water, drain, wipe water away with clean soft cloth, and then lid off, place the body upside, let it air dry for one or two days.

Do not ever use any detergent or soap than water to clean the pot.

Do not let the potcome into contact with other strong smell such as cooking fume, cigarette smoke, perfume.
